Butter yellow for a cozy fall day
This past Sunday, I was heading to a family dinner and wanted my outfit to hit that sweet spot between cozy and put-together. You know the vibe, comfortable enough to lounge on the couch after dessert, but still stylish enough to make an entrance.
I started with the base: a cream long sleeve top that’s become a go-to in my fall rotation. It’s soft, breathable, and layers like a dream. For bottoms, I chose a pair of light-wash wide-leg denim. They’ve got structure (so I don’t feel like I’m in pajamas), but the relaxed fit gives them that effortless ease.
To bring in the cozy element, I layered on my favorite butter yellow oversized sweatshirt. It’s slouchy in all the right ways and adds the perfect pop of soft color, kind of like sunshine on a cloudy fall day.

To elevate the look, which was definitely a challenge, because let’s be real, an oversized sweatshirt doesn’t exactly scream “fancy”, I reached for a pair of high-heeled boots. They’re a warm, light caramel brown with a smooth, shiny finish. The color really brought everything together, subtly pulling from the butter yellow tones of the sweatshirt without competing with it.
Even with the polished texture, the boots still leaned into that casual, country-chic vibe I was going for. They added just the right amount of structure and sophistication while keeping the outfit grounded and wearable. I absolutely loved how they balanced out the coziness of the look.

To finish off the look, I grabbed my light beige leather bag. It’s oversized and relaxed, which played perfectly into the comfort vibe I was aiming for. The leather adds a bit of structure and polish, but the slouchy silhouette keeps things feeling easy and laid-back.
This outfit is one of my favorite looks of the season, the contrast between comfy and chic made it feel effortless, but still intentional. I love when an outfit can do both.
